NAME OF YOUR COLLEGE
FULL POSTAL ADDRESS OF THE COLLEGE

Sub: Application for transfer certificate

Sir / Madam,

I hereby regret my inabilities to continue as a student of your esteemed institution owing to the recent shifting of my family afar. I am finding it extremely difficult to commute to the college from my new home as it takes quite a few hours and impends serious travel costs I cannot bear. I have therefore decided to take admission in another institution closer to my new residence.

In this connection I request you to kindly issue me a certificate of transfer so that I may enroll myself in the new college.

Thanking you,

Yours Sincerely,

Transfer Certificate Application Letter Model 2: Change in academic interest

To
The Principal
NAME OF YOUR COLLEGE
FULL POSTAL ADDRESS OF THE COLLEGE

Sub: Application for transfer certificate

Sir / Madam,

This is to inform you with due respect my inabilities to continue further as a student of your college. Of late I am coming to realise that my academic interest lies in statistics, and not in engineering. It seems I am not being able to cope up with engineering; the subject is appearing monotonous and even frightening to me. On the other hand, my interest lies in statistics and I hope to do well in that subject and pursue my career as a statistician.

Accordingly I have recently taken admission in a premier institute for statistical studies. Nevertheless, to continue further with the process of admission and register myself as a student of the same institution, I would require to produce my transfer certificate from my present college.

In this regard may I ask you to please issue me a certificate of transfer so that I can pursue my academic interests in the new institution mentioned above?

Thanking you,

Yours Sincerely,

Things to remember while writing letter to college principal for TC

Please note that the model transfer certificate letters are to be used as sample formats only. Though the change of address and change in academic interest are often the most common reasons for seeking transfer from college, there may be other cases as well and you have to write your letter accordingly. However, more or less all the transfer certificate application letters, whatever may be the reason, will have certain similarities between them. For example:

  • The application letter for transfer from college or school has to be addressed to the head of the institution. Use Principal / Head Master / Head Mistress / Teacher-in-Charge / Any other designations as applicable: you know best how you refer to your head!
  • You have to clearly mention the reason for seeking transfer. If required, furnish all the relevant details. You may also attach photocopies of relevant documents to justify yourself, like a proof of your new address, photocopy of your admission slip in the new institution, statement of marks in a competitive examination and so on.
  • You may also thank the head of your institution, as well as the teaching and support staff, to provide you so far with the opportunity to study in that institution and help you progress in your career path.
